Ontario Car Accident Settlement Calculator

Explore an illustrative injury model, with lost income, expenses and reimbursements clearly separated.

Two parts of the picture

Ontario automobile injury cases can involve statutory accident benefits and, where applicable, a claim for damages against someone responsible for the accident. These have different eligibility and payment rules. A single total cannot settle both questions.

What to gather before using the calculator

  • The accident date and your insurance policy details.
  • Medical records, treatment dates and the effects on your usual activities.
  • Evidence of missed income, expenses and amounts already reimbursed.
  • Information about responsibility for the accident.

What an Ontario estimate can tell you

The calculator shows an illustrative injury-model range first, including when you have not lost income. The restored combined model uses reported losses before reimbursements; the separate financial summary shows reimbursements and remaining losses. Unknown future recovery no longer automatically removes the model. The methodology page publishes the formula and its limitations. This is not a validated Ontario settlement calculation.

Ontario damages rules can involve thresholds and deductibles, and income-loss treatment can differ from a simple total of missed gross pay. The scenario does not calculate those legal adjustments. Liability, medical evidence and coverage can materially change the outcome.

Accident benefits and July 2026 changes

FSRA states that medical, rehabilitation and attendant care benefits remain mandatory under the July 2026 changes, while other accident-benefit coverages become optional. Check the policy and dates that apply to the accident; do not assume the same coverages apply to every person.

Benefit payments and a damages claim can interact. Keep records of payments already received rather than adding them again as uncompensated losses.

Useful questions to ask

  • Which benefits are included in the applicable policy?
  • Which losses are documented and which are projections?
  • What has already been paid or reimbursed?
  • Do the applicable damages rules affect this situation?

Discuss your individual circumstances

The model does not establish whether your injury meets any legal threshold or what someone must pay. Email CarInjuryCalculator@gmail.com to request contact with a legal professional for an individual review. Read how the request works before sharing documents.
